Fantuz Remains Out As Ticats Win

Andy-Fantuz-Hamilton-Tiger-Cats-2Chatham’s Andy Fantuz missed his second straight CFL game, and more than a week of practice, as the Hamilton Tiger Cats picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, a 25-20 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Fantuz was injured in practice Thursday, July 4, suffering what the team is calling a lower body injury.

In his only game this season, Fantuz had a strong performance, collecting 155-yards, and scoring a touchdown.

Coach Kent Austin initially called Fantuz’s injuries less than serious, but after missing 10-days and 2 games, it appears Fantuz’s recovery is taking longer than expected.

“We don’t make excuses for injuries,” Austin told the Hamilton Spectator before the game. “Our philosophy is ‘If you find yourself on the football field, then we expect you to play as a starter and provide that kind of production.’ ”

It appears Austin’s words came true has receiving yards were not a problem in Hamilton’s win over Winnipeg. In Saturday’s game, Henrie Burris had a spectacular game, connecting with his other receivers on 25 of 32 passes for 362-yards, including 2 touchdowns.
