Major Midget Cyclones ousted from Windsor Canada Cup Tourney

Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Midget Team Picture 2010

Chatham-Kent, ON – Despite playing several outstading games, the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Midget AAA team was eliminated from the Canada Cup tournament in Windsor. Along with the tournament, four Chatham-Kent Cyclones players participated in the tournament skills competition.

                3rd goal: Trevor Sparks, assist Wade Esselment, Michael Myers

Game #3  Tues Dec 28th  Cyclones 3  Capital Centre Pride 3
                1st goal: Michael Verboom, assist Trevor Richardson, Cody Trowell
                2nd goal: Nathan Pietens, assist Carter Warwick, Lucais Meyskens
                3rd goal: Macks Holmes (AP), assist Michael Myers, Trevor Sparks
               Note:  Cyclones Goalie Hunter Johnson faced over 60 shots and was amazing in net.

Game #4  Wed Dec 29th  Cyclones 1  Markham 5
                1st goal: Joshua Gordon, assist Michael Verboom

Wed Dec 29th: At the Skills Competition and All Star Game, Chatham-Kent Cyclones players Hunter Johnson, Carter Warwick, Michael Myers and Joshua Gordon represented Chatham-Kent well.

Skills Competition:
Best Goalie:  Hunter Johnson, who was unbeatable.
Goal Scoring Champion:  Joshua Gordon, who was the only one out of 32 players to score on all 3 attempts.  This placed him second best player in the skills competition. Both Hunter and Joshua won sticks, hats and T-Shirts.

All Star Game:
Chatham-Kent Cyclones players, Hunter Johnson, Carter Warwick, Michael Myers and Joshua Gordon played on the White Team and won 3-1.  Hunter Johnson played the third period and got a shut-out.  The second and game winning goal, was scored by Chatham-Kent’s Joshua Gordon, assisted by Michael Myers and Carter Warwick.

                4th goal: Nicolas Amodeo unassisted “prettiest goal”
                5th goal: Cody Trowell unassisted with .5 seconds remaining to tie game.
