Wallaceburg Red Devils Win Season Opener in Hamilton
The Wallaceburg Red Devils opened their 2011 season on a winning note defeating the Hamiton Bengals on the road 17-12. Clint Lamarsh and Rob Pollock were on fire for the Red Devils, with Lamarsh racking up 5 goals and 3 assists, and Pollock adding 4 goals and 3 assists.
Nathan Carrol had a 4-point night for the team scoring twice and adding 2 helpers, while Reid Miller potted a hat trick. Other Red Devils goal scorers were Dillon Lapointe, Joel Shepley, and Jordan Durston. Durston also added 4-assists.
Kirby Celloto took the win in net for the Wallaceburg Red Devils making 19 saves.
The Wallaceburg Red Devils now return home for the Home Opener, Saturday April 30 against Six Nations. The game gets underway at 7:00pm and all minor sports athletes wearing their club logo will be admitted free.
Last season, the Red Devils finished with a 7-13 record, but are looking to develop under the guidance of new head coach Justin Durston. If the opening win over Hamilton, along with the Red Devils unbeaten preseason tournament performance in Windsor are any indication, this organization is well on the way to turning in a winning season.
