Each of Saturday’s four feature races at South Buxton Raceway were marred by crashes in Week 6 of the season. Some drivers however, managed to escape the crashing and banging of the races to win Buxton’s four weekly features.

The Number 29 car driven by Eren Vanderiviere or Merlin took the checkered flag in the Dover Sanitation UMP Sport Stocks event, capturing his first feature victory of the season. The win was enough to vault Vanderiviere into first in the overall Sport Stocks standings at Buxton Raceway. Vanderiviere was followed by fellow Merlin driver Steve Shaw.

Blenheim’s Shawn Jones extended his overall Tirecraft Comp 4s series lead over Denis DeSerrano by winning his third straight feature race at South Buxton Raceway. DeSerrano finished last after being caught up in the accident filled traffic, although his father Norm, finished a close second to Jones. Blenheim’s Brett Hope finished third, followed by Randy McKinlay and Jordan Arnel of Chatham.

In the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds feature, Joel Dick of Leamington continued his strong season taking the checkered flag. The other feature of the night, the Windride Transportation UMP Late Models, was won by Charing Cross’ Chris Ross, followed by a Chatham contingent of Jim Jones, Brad Authier, Jason Haskell, and Gregg Haskell to round out the top 5.

Next weekend, June 25, South Buxton welcomes one of the biggest events of the year with the Northern Summer National Sprints in town.
