The Maple City Brewers handed the Windsor Titans a convincing 7-0 loss in former Toronto Blue Jays prospect and Olympian David Corrente’s return to baseball.

Corrente suited up for the Maple City Brewers after a brief retirement from the game because the Brewers, who are contending for top position in both the Essex and Western Counties leagues, had only one catcher on the roster, and were looking for depth.

After striking out in his first at bat, and being hit by a pitch in his second stop at the plate, Corrente had a solid return going 1-3 at the plate. The highlight of his return was his lone hit, a 7th inning home run. Corrente also finished with an RBI.

Second baseman Joel Smith went 3-3 in the win totalling 3 RBIs for the Maple City Brewers. Brandyn Broadwood, playing deignated hitter in the game went 2-3 in the game with 1 RBI.

Maple City plays again Sunday July 24 in Chatham at Rotary Park versus Port Lambton. Game time is 3pm. The next two games on Maple City’s schedule are Tuesday in Sarnia against the Wyoming Juniors, and next Friday in Chatham facing Petrolia. Game time for Friday’s home game is 7:05pm.
