After being bumped to an ‘A’ classification as one of the top dozen team’s in the province, it’s clear the Wallaceburg Griffins Novice 1 team has a target on their backs. Tuesday in Wallaceburg, the Novice 1 Griffins took on the Sarnia Pacers in what was a closely fought game with Wallaceburg struggling to an 8-4 win.

Evan Dumais led his Wallaceburg Griffins team scoring 4 goals in the win. Wallaceburg captain Tanner Cole continued his torrid scoring pace adding 2 goals to crack the 60 point mark in only 15 games this season.

Cole MacKinnon also had 2 goals while Hunter Santsche added two asssits in the win. Malcolm Vandevenne and Aiden Lucyk split the win in net for the 14-0-1 Griffins who currently sit alone in first place in Zone 7.

The game was a rough affair which saw several Wallaceburg and Sarnia players parading to the penalty box, a problem which has plagued the young Novice 1 Griffins against tougher competition at regional ‘A’ tournaments.

The Wallaceburg Griffins Novice 1 team faces London tonight.
