For Chatham’s Doug Melvin, it’s one step closer to a World Series title, for his Milwaukee Brewers, it’s a step into the unknown as the last time the Brewers won a division title and advanced to the NLCS was 1982.

Melvin, the team’s general manager took heat over the offseason for some of the moves he made in building the Milwaukee Brewers roster, however Nyger Morgan’s 10th inning walk-off winner quieted all critics of the Brewers as they advanced past the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Brewers now move on to face the St. Louis Cardinals for a National League title and the chance to play for a World Series.

In the regular season, the Milwaukee Brewers finished 6 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals in the Central Division. The Cardinals secured the NL wildcard before knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies.
