Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic: Getting Athletes Back in the Game
The Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in Wallaceburg has been in business for roughly 20-years helping get athletes and everyday people back in the game. Last spring, the Clinic welcomed new owner Staci Modde to the fold, a move that is bringing new life to the business.
Offering a variety of services from assessment and development of treatment plans, manual therapy, acupuncture, personal training, assistive device services, and more with the aid of their onsite Medical Rehabilitation Gym and other high tech tools, Modde and her Clinic, aim to get patients back to activity as soon as possible, while putting the patient’s safety first.
Following an injury, the Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic specializes in getting athletes back into the game, and back to peak performance,
“It is beneficial to see a physiotherapist following an injury because we are able to assess the extent of the injury and determine whether it is safe for the injured athlete to return to play or not,” says Modde. “If the athlete is not allowed to return to play, we are able to prescribe a tailored treatment plan to the individual to facilitate speedy return to sport. This also helps prevent the injury from getting worse or the player putting themselves at risk with an early return to play.”
In terms of physiotherapy, Modde says her clinic stands above others because of the services they offer, and the experience of the staff,
“We offer a wide range of services from acupuncture to personal training. Myself and the Physiotherapy Assistant have both worked first hand with injured athletes at different sporting events.”
Following an injury, athletes are never sure what to expect, but for many, physiotherapy is the best and fastest route back to action.
“A comprehensive assessment of his or her injury, education regarding the injury and the extent, a treatment plan tailored to their sporting needs, an estimated timeline for recovery, and safe return to sport,” said Modde about what athletes can expect after walking into the Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in Wallaceburg.
Many athletes try to rush back to sport following injuries, something Modde warns against, “Be Patient. If you return to sport too soon you may be putting yourself at risk for a more serious injury, or you may re-injure yourself.”
Modde also volunteers as a trainer for the Wallaceburg Lakers, something she says is a way to give back to her community.
“I have always enjoyed watching the Lakers games when I was younger and have always been involved in sports myself,” said Modde. “Sports Physiotherapy is my passion and being a trainer with the Lakers allows me to fulfill this. It is also nice to be able to give back and support the community.”
