Atom Kent TekSavvy Cobras Win Big Chill Tournament in Michigan
In the tournament’s opening game, the Kent Cobras got off to a slow start losing 4-3 to the same Chicago Leafs Hockey Club they would face in the final. Nolan Bernier, Alex Vanderkaden, and Dylan Schives scored for the Kent TekSavvy Cobras in the losing effort. Schives also picked up an assist in the game.
Game three went better for Cobras as they picked up a 6-2 win over the Winnetka Warriors. Josh Kewley had a three point game, scoring twice late in the third period and adding an assist in the game, while Vanderkaden also had two goals. Other Kent Cobras goal scorers were Kyle Swis and Bernier.
Facing another tough team from Chicago, the Huskies, in game four of the Big Chill Tournament, the Cobras suffered another loss, this time, by a score of 2-1. Schives scored the only goal of the game for the Kent TekSavvy Cobras at 11:56 of the second period.
Advancing to the gold medal game against the Chicago Leafs Hockey Club, goalie Noah Legary shut the door making 14 saves, while Bernier, Schives, Alex Bondy, and Trent Amaro handled the offense for the Cobras, each scoring a goal on their way to the Championship victory.
