The Windsor Clippers halted the Wallaceburg Red Devils win streak at five games Wednesday night in front of a rowdy crowd at Memorial Arena. The Clippers held off Wallaceburg taking a 12-8 win.

After Clint Lamarsh scored back to back goals to open the game for Wallaceburg, before Windsor’s Tyler McDowall got his first of five goals in the game to vault Windsor back into the game. Reid Miller would score twice in the first period, but Wallaceburg’s defence couldn’t stop the Clippers charge, which also forced a goaltending change chasing Eric Shepley from the net in exchange for Ryan Schuetzkowski.

In the second, Schuetzkowski made 19-saves to give Wallaceburg a chance to get back into the game, but penalty troubles kept the Red Devils pinned in their zone for much of the period.

Branden Lilley and Rob Pollock scored for Wallaceburg in the second period, but the Clippers extended their lead again. In the third, Mike Myers, who had a strong game, shining on the penalty kill, scored twice, but it would not be enough.

Wallaceburg struggled to get their high powered offence into gear with Jordan VanDamme out of the lineup with a suspension and star Jordan Durston playing on a sore knee. Rob Pollock led all Red Devils scorers with 5-points in the loss.

Wallaceburg will welcome Niagara to town Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

    Rowdy was an understatement

I was trying to be politically correct KD 🙂 I thought the person behind me was going to jump over me to get the ref! That’s a great and unique thing about Wallaceburg compared to many centers though, the fans know the game, care about their team’s, and show it.
