Chatham-Kent Products 1, 2, 3 in Alliance Scoring

The season might be young, but Chatham-Kent products Travis Konecny, Drew Marlatt, and James McEwan are 1, 2, 3 in Alliance Hockey scoring, Southwestern Ontario’s top ‘AAA’ hockey league.

Konecny, who grew up in Chatham-Kent, playing for the Cyclones, moved to play for the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs last season and is leading all scorers with 7 goals and 4 assists in 5 games.

Konecny participated in the All-State All Canadians camp this past summer, which is a camp for the top hockey prospects in Canada. The camp pairs Major Junior draft eligible prospects with NHL players for a mentorship program and tournament. Konecny, who played for Team (Taylor) Hall, had 152 points last season in 63 games and is expected to go in the top two rounds of this years OHL draft.

Marlatt, a Chatham-Kent Secondary School student, has 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 games, leading the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget team to one of their best starts in recent years.

Tied with Marlatt, with an identical 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 games, is Ursuline College student James McEwan.

Both players currently serve as assistant captains for the Cyclones.

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones will participate in the Showcase Weekend September 28-30 playing four games against Huron-Perth, Hamilton, Waterloo, and Kitchener.
