Maple City Brewers Gearing Up For 2013 Season
The Maple City Brewers are anxiously awaiting the start of their 2013 baseball season after a one year hiatus for the club.
The Brewers have been practicing for a month now and are scheduled to kick off their season May 19 in Wyoming, before returning to Chatham for their home opener May 24 at Fergie Jenkins Field. The Brewers are slated to face the Courtright Cardinals, with the opening pitch at 7:35pm.
Heavy rainfall has kept the team off Fergie Jenkins Field, which was improved this spring with new sod, “It’s in the best interest of everyone that we remain off the diamond until it is absolutely 100% ready,” said Brewers assistant GM Joel Shepley in a release on the Brewers website.
Fergie Jenkins field not only saw upgrades to the playing surface, but there is also a new indoor baseball facility in the right field.
