Stallaert’s Medal At Summer Competitions

Figure-skatesThe Chatham Skating Club has sent a 5 of its “competitive” skaters to 2 separate summer competitions.

At the Summer Sizzle Invitational Competition at RIM Park Arena in Waterloo, on Aug 9-11, 2 of our Men competitors took to the ice.

Zachary Stallaert skated away with the Gold Medal as he competed in Junior Bronze Men StarSkate.

Chase Ireland-Heidt, along with his partner, Natalie Robinson from the Ridgetown Skating Club, competed in the Juvenile Dance categories.

In the Pattern Dances, they placed 9th in the Fiesta Tango and 8th in the European Waltz, giving them an 8th overall placement.

They skated in the separate Juvenile FreeSkate Dance category and placed 5th.

Later in August, from August 15-18, 3 Ladies competed out of our section to compete at the Summer Skate in Thornhill in the Central Ontario Skating Section.

This event was well attended with much anticipation with the likes of Patrick Chan, Andrei Rogozine, Gabrielle Daleman and Alaine Chartrand, all Senior National medalists, taking to the ice in their scheduled events. The competition was attended by skaters from Japan, Germany and Bulgaria along with sections across Canada.

In the Novice Ladies event, Ashley Glassco finished in 7th place in the Short Program while placing 5th in the Long FreeSkate, giving her an overall 5th place at her event.

Olivia Stallaert placed 2nd in the Pre-Novice Ladies Short Program event and 4th in the Long FreeSkate, allowing her to skate away with the Bronze Medal.

At the Juvenile Ladies (under 14) event, Hannah Ross placed 8th.
