Five Cyclones Selected Alliance All-Stars
The Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midgets will be well represented at the Alliance Hockey Minor Midget AAA All-Star weekend December 7-8 in Komoka, Ontario.
Cyclones Blair Derynck (Chatham), Ross Kreiger (Pain Court), Brady Pataki (Wallaceburg), Joseph Raaymakers (Chatham), and Levi Tetrault (Pain Court) were selected to participate in the four team showcase event.
The players were selected by the Team Alliance Selection committee, which will select a team for the upcoming OHL Gold Cup. Derynck and Raaymakers will suit up for Team Navy, Kreiger Team White, and Pataki and Tetreault Team Grey for the weekend.
According to Brendan Ross, the Alliance Scout for the TheScout.ca, Tetrault and Raaymakers are the top prospects on the Cyclones Minor Midget entry this season.
Raaymakers will undoubtedly be a high pick this year after participating in the All-State All-Canadian NHLPA Mentorship program, while Ross calls Tetrault, “reliable shutdown defender,” and “good skater” who “makes calculated smart plays,” and “has the size to handle the rigors of the OHL game.”
The Chatham-Kent Cyclones currently sit second in the Alliance’s West Division with a 10-7-3 record. Derynk tops the Cyclones in points with 15, while Kreiger is the team’s top goal scorer with 7, and Tetrault is the teams leading d-man with 11 points.
Raaymakers has an impressive 7-1-1 record this season with 3 shutouts, and leads the Alliance in save percentage at .954 and is second in goals against average at 1.47.
