UCC Lancers Win Kent Volleyball
Taking the best of five match 3-1, UCC was powered by the impressive play of Wallaceburg’s Cody Charlton, and setter Chris Hoy, came back after losing the first game 23-25, to win three consecutive games en route to the championship, 25-20, 25-22, and 25-23.
It was the UCC Lancers net play by Charlton, Luke Allin, Tyler Udvari, Mitch Hakker, and Hoy, that kept the Golden Hawks, who are the reigning ‘AAA’ OFSAA gold medallists, at bay.
CKSS’ top offensive player in the game was Christian Bechard, who was one of few threats the Lancers defense had trouble controlling.
Charlton however, picked up key kills and blocks, as did Allin and Hoy, to help keep the momentum swinging in UCC’s favour.
Both teams will now move on to SWOSSAA matches in order to attempt to qualify for OFSAA. UCC will visit Sarnia St. Patricks Wednesday, while CKSS will visit Sarnia Northern the same day.
