The Belle River Canadiens swept the Blenheim Blades, ending the series in six games, following an OHA decision erasing a game, which could have put the Blades ahead 3-0 in their best of seven playoff series.

Blenheim took a 2-0 lead in their series over Belle River, but a game last Friday night was wiped out after the power went out in Belle River, with Blenheim holding a 5-4 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game. The OHA decided that rather than playing the final minutes of the game another night, that the entire game would be replayed. Blenheim lost the replayed game two nights later, and subsequently, lost the next three games to lose their series.

Friday, again in Belle River, the Canadiens shut out the Blades 3-0, handing Blenheim their fourth straight loss following the controversial decision that enraged fans, and changed the momentum of the series.

Kody Gagnon scored a pair, while Brendan Grundwell picked up Belle River’s third goal.

Blenheim eliminated the Mooretown Flags in the opening round of the Great Lakes Junior C playoffs, their first playoff win since the 1994-1995 season.

Belle River will now advance to face the defending champion Essex 73s in the Great Lakes final.
