Arrows Win Opener In OLA Finals
Tilbury’s Brandon Montour scored, and added an assist in the first period of Thursday’s game at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. Montour’s assist came on a first period goal by Ian Martin.
Martin paced the Arrows in the win with 3 goals and 2 assists, while captain Johnny Powless scored a goal and had 3 assists.
Wallaceburg’s Joel Shepley played a key role in Six Nations’ defense in the game. The reigning OLA Junior B defensive player of the year, Shepley, along with Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston have been key cogs in Six Nations’ playoff run.
Durston, who had 20-points in his first 6 playoff games, sat out Thursday’s game with a knee injury.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is Saturday at Whitby, before game 3, which takes place Sunday in Six Nations.
