There wasn’t a lot of shuffling in Week 5 of the Great Lakes Junior C hockey league power rankings. A familiar team remains on top, and a familiar team remains in the basement. Mark Hagerman lays it out in CKSN’s Week 5 Great Lakes Junior C Power Rankings.

#1 EsEssex-73s-Logosex 73’s / Last week #1

Essex is sticking to the basics, the 73’s adjust for the competition never losing stride or faith in the system that makes them playoff contenders year after year.
Record: 8-1-1-0

Blenheim-Blades-Alternative-Logo #2 Blenheim Blades / Last week #2

The Blades one road game win this week is evidence there is still work to do in Blenheim. A consistent game three periods strong will be needed down the stretch
if the Blades are to rival the team of last year.
Record: 7-2-0-0

Amherstburg-Admirals-Logo#3 Amherstburgh Admirals / Last week #3

Rookie Mark Gangnon is giving the Admirals a big offensive push on a nightly basis. Couple this with a more diciplined Amherstburg team and one can only expect
positive results down the road.
Record: 7-4-0-0

Dresden-Kings-Logo#4 Dresden Kings / Last week #4

A tough week for the Kings after the passing of their General Manager Dennis Brewer shows the strength and resilience of this organization. Dresden collected three
of a possible six points and maintains third spot in the standings.
Record: 6-4-1-0

Lakeshore-Canadiens-Logo

#5 Lakeshore Canadiens / Last Week #6

The Canadiens are searching for balance on the bench, frustration on the ice is a major distraction to progress. The Canadiens have to remember who they are and get back to the quick, smooth skating and passing team that they can be.
Record: 5-4-0-1

Wheatley-Sharks-Logo #6 Wheatley Sharks / Last week #5

Eleven games in and the Sharks have most of the pieces in place for a playoff team. Focus on the system and more disciplined play will get Wheatley back on track.
Record: 5-5-0-1

Alvinston-Flyers-Logo
#7 Alvinston Flyers / Last week #8

Alvinston would split their meetings this week but continue to make gains in building a solid team for the stretch. The Flyers will need to focus on takingvadvantage of opportunities around the net. Most goals in hockey aren’t pretty.
Record: 3-6-0-0

Mooretown-Flags-Logo #8 Mooretown Flags / Last week #7

A week off for the Flags will be just what the doctor ordered (so to speak). Mooretown will have just one meeting this week hosting Alvinston in what should be a great game between these very similar teams.
Record: 2-6-1-0

Wallaceburg-Lakers-Logo #9 Wallaceburg Lakers / Last week #9

A split this week for the Lakers should inspire confidence picking up a win against a solid Kings team. The Lakers should further develop their aggressive forecheck that has been instrumental in their point production.
Record: 1-6-0-1
