The Wallaceburg Lakers skid has hit 18 games, and counting, after a loss Tuesday night on the road to the Essex 73s.

After falling 4-1 to Essex, the Lakers will again try to find the win column Wednesday night when they host the Amherstburg Admirals.

Tyler Shaw scored the lone Wallaceburg goal Wednesday night.

William Stadder scored a pair for Essex, while Matthew Hebert and Scott Bromley also scored.

Assisting on Shaw’s goal was Ryan Gruszka, a new addition to the Lakers lineup who has spent the season bouncing around Junior A leagues across Canada.

Gruszka, who scored 38 points in 26 games with the Lakers last season before moving up to the Lambton Shores Predators of the GOJHL, played in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League with the Junior A Cochrane Crunch, before being traded twice to the Alberta Junior Hockey League and Manitoba Junior A Hockey League where he played with the Campbellton Tigers.

On paper, the Lakers’ lineup has improved in the second half, as the team also received defenseman Mike Zottl back from Junior B, however it hasn’t been enough to propel the team into the win column.
