The Chatham-Kent Wildcats U12 girls basketball team took gold at the Hoopdome Tournament in Toronto over the past weekend.

The Wildcats opened by defeating Kingston Impact #2 43-7. Abby Stokes lead the way with 12-points, while Lainie Scott had 8 and Alexis Carrington had 6. The Wildcats dominated possession in the game, collecting 35 steals.

Facing the Huntsville Hurricanes next, the Chatham-Kent girls played to a 47-17 victory. Olivia Roesch had 12-points, Logan Cormier 10-points, and Adele Culverwell 6. Defensively, Zayda Sprik had 8-steals.

Next up for the U12 Major Atom Wildcats were the Orangeville Hawks, who the Wildcats took down 28-15. Roesch again had 12, and also added 7-steals, while Abby Stokes had 4-points and 7 rebounds. Also chipping in for the Wildcats were Elyse Sprik and Lainie Scott with 4-points each.

Finally, in their closest contest of the Hoopdome tournament, the Wildcats defeated the Vaughn Panthers 34-29.

Adele Culverwell had 10-points, while Megan Basso had 8, and Abby Stokes 6. The girls dominated the boards in the game, collecting 50-rebounds.
