September 27: Local Sports Briefs
– The Dresden Kings are hit the trail tonight in the lone great Lakes Jr C game on the docket as they are in Wheatley against the Sharks. Last night Matt Clark scored three times for the Blenheim Blades as they knocked off Alvinston 8-4 while Amherstberg beat Lakeshore 6-3.
– In the GOJHL, the Sarnia Legionaires edged the Chatham Maroons 5-4. Ian Faubert, Gus Ford, Conner McKinnon and Brayden Hopkins scored for the Maroons in the loss.
– In OHL action Wallaceburg’s Brady Pataki was held off the score sheet but his Sudbury Wolves picked up a 5-4 shootout win over the Mississauga Steelheads. Clachan’s Travis Konecney was also shutdown as Barrie beat Ottawa 4-0.
– Rebecca Arnott of KAYO Boxing club won two unanimous decisions on the weekend as she beat Caylaugh Clark of the Top Glove Boxing Academy and Jillian McIassac of the Uptown Boxing Club.
– The C-K Golden Hawks Jr Girls Basketball team won gold at Eastwood College Jr Girls Basketball Tourney after beating Kitchener Resurrection 48-18 in the Championship.
– The C-K Golden Hawks Sr. Girls team brought home silver medals from the Bishop MacDonell Shoot for the Cure Tournament in Guelph. Stratford St. Mike’s beat the Hawks 47-27 in the Championship.
– Adam DaSilva scored five goals for the Chatham Express as they wrapped up their season with an 8-0 win of London Croatia.
– Brad McCarther of Wallaceburg coached Israel to a fourth place finish at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Syracuse New York. The U.S. Beat Israel 15-4 in the bronze medal game.
