Maroons Name Brian Verbeek New Head Coach
The Chatham Maroons have hired Brian Verbeek as the team’s new head coach after the resignation of their coaching staff this week. Below is the Chatham Maroons’ press release on the hiring in its entirety.
“The Chatham Maroons are pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Verbeek as head coach of the team. He assumes this position immediately.
Brian Verbeek has ties to the Chatham Maroons, and has had a hockey career that took him from the OHL, to the IHL and finally to Europe. He has extensive coaching experience, including stints in the OHL.
Brian’s commitment to skills development and program structure make him a good addition to the Maroons staff. We are committed to the successful development of our players, and we believe Brian can refine our current program to meet this goal.
Tyler Roeszler was offered a position as associate coach and the Maroons committed to retaining the staff from the past season. After some consideration, Tyler, Jeff MacDougald and Bino Pereira have decided not to return.
The goal of the Maroons ownership has always been player driven, focusing on the development and further advancement of players and their education. With the commitment to skills and structure that Brian Verbeek brings to the team, we are confident that he has the experience to deliver on this goal.
