Sasseville, Tran Add To CK Medal Haul At Nationals
Chatham Pool Sharks Genevieve Sasseville and David Tran both found the podium in day three of the Age Group Nationals in Calgary on Friday night.
Sasseville won silver in the 13-year-old female 50-metre free-swim. Tran won bronze in the 13-year-old male 50-metre free-swim. Both recorded new personal best times in their medal-clinching finals. “Gigi” and David had each previously posted personal bests in the preliminaries earlier in the day.
The Pool Sharks are a much smaller swim team than most at elite meets like the age group nationals. With 38 total swimmers on the team, qualifying three for this national competition is impressive enough. Now three days in, all three of those swimmers have made their way to the medal podium.
“This is a huge accomplishment for the Pool Sharks,” said head coach Kyle Pinsonneault. “I am so proud and honoured to coach these three and the whole Chatham team.”
Pinsonneault extended congratulations to the entire Sharks coaching staff.
“They have all helped get these kids to this level. We are doing something right in Chatham!”
The Pool Sharks have now lay claim to four medals over the first three days of competition. Madison Broad previously won gold in the 50-metre backstroke and silver in the 100-metre back.
