Cougars Shutout Opponents
The Chatham-Kent Cougars peewee and bantam teams opened their OFC football seasons this weekend in Chatham.
The Peewee Cougars defeated the Vaughan Rebels 32-0, while the Bantam Cougars beat the Forest City Thunderbirds 18-0.
For the Peewee Cougars, Ben Church ran for 127 yards, including a touchdown on his opening run of the game.
Brennan Normandin-Kerr caught a touchdown, and also ran in a 45-yard TD.
Jay C Morlog and Jack Crow had the other Chatham-Kent touchdowns on a 55-yard reception, and 15-yard yard respectively.
Morlog was strong on the other side of the ball as well with 5 tackles and 4 sacks. Oliver Sheppard had 3 tackles, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble, while Kyler Clowater had 6 tackles and a forced fumble.
On the field with the Bantam Cougars, Tyler Shumanski and Braydon Charbonneau pulled in touchdown passes from quarterback Drew Barko.
Barko threw for a total of 125-yards in the 18-0 win.
Trevor Lawton paced the defense collecting 11 tackles.
The Peewee Cougars and Bantam Cougars are back in action June 4 in Chatham against the Brantford Bison.
