TJ Brodie “Loves Chatham”
With the NHL regular season wrapping up, the Toronto Maple Leafs have had their first full season with Dresden’s TJ Brodie on the roster.
Whether you as the coaching staff, or his teammates, they all agree that Brodie made a noticeable impact on the blueline this season in Toronto through his consistency and defensive play.
“On our defense especially, he’s Mr. Consistent,” said Toronto head coach Sheldon Keefe.
“For us he just goes about his business, consistent in his emotions, in his energy, and consistent in his play. He’s out there to do his job and do it effectively. The way he moves the puck, the way he defends and breaks up play. He does a lot of little things extremely well that help our team go.”
Brodie’s defensive partner this season has been longtime Leafs blueliner Morgan Rielly.
“It’s one of the most challenging things about playing at this level is just being good every night. He’s able just to do it, it’s not easy, he’s been doing it for a long time, it’s not just this year,” Rielly said in praise of Brodie.
“It’s extremely impressive and I’ve been fortunate to play with a guy like that. It’s awesome to see him work and put the time in and it pay off.”
Brodie, who has 14 points in 53 games is happy to be in Toronto, but he’s also been telling his teammates, including Reilly about his hometown.
“He’s happy to be in Toronto. He loves Chatham probably more than anyone else, he wants to be the Mayor of Chatham.”
After his success with the Leafs, Brodie would likely get his share of votes.
