Tilbury Bluebirds start round two of the playoffs this weekend

The Tilbury Bluebirds senior hockey team swept the Woodstock Lakers three games to none, to win their best-of-five first-round WOSHL playoff series.

Tilbury clinched the sweep, with a 4-3 road victory on Saturday. Sammy Banga had two goals for the Bluebirds, with Andrew McCombe and Roman Isaykov adding singles.

Tilbury will play the Tillsonburg Thunder in the next round of the playoffs. The semi-final round is a best-of-seven series. The top-seeded Stratford Fighting Irish and fifth-seeded Alvinston Killer Bees are in the other semifinal.

Tilbury is asking fans to wear green for Game 2 on Sunday. The arena bar opens at 6:30 p.m. and features green beer on the menu.
