Bentley wins silver at OFSAA

Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Brooke Bentley took home the silver medal in the senior girls shot put with a throw of 12.29 metres at the OFSAA high school track and field championships held in London’s Western Alumni Stadium.

A Grade 11 student, Bentley finished behind London’s Julia Tunks.

Tunks main event is the discus, where she has an outside chance on making Canada’s track and field team for this summer’s Olympics in Paris. Tunks, who was the U20 Canadian shot put champ in 2023 and the senior women’s discus gold medal winner last year, is just 17 years-old and is the daughter of former Olympian Jason Tunks. Tunks is committed to UCLA in the fall.

Bentley advanced to OFSAA last year year in the junior division, finishing in tenth place.
