Montour signs with Kraken

Just a week after winning a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, Brandon Montour has signed a huge deal with the Seattle Kraken.

Montour, 30, signed a seven-year $50 million contract with Seattle.

Montour is from Six Nations, but spent most of his childhood growing up in Tilbury. He went to Tilbury Area Public School from Grade 1 to Grade 8. He played in the Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA minor hockey system.

A mobile offensive defenceman, Montour was in demand after two strong seasons in Florida.

Montour is a 10-year NHL veteran who has played for the Ducks, Sabres and Panthers. He is coming off a three-year, $10.5-million contract
