Thamesville’s Dane Fox received some accolades following his first professional hockey campaign, as the rookie with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings received the team’s Consumers Credit Union Rookie of the Year Award.

Fox, who joined Kalamazoo after being signed to an NHL contract by the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent last season, climbed into the league rookie leaders in goals and points as the season progressed.

In 70 games this season, Fox collected 30 goals and 15 assists for 45 points, along with 110 penalty minutes in his rookie campaign.

Last season, Fox was named the OHL’s Overage Player of the Year, leading the league in goals with 64 goals in 67 games, along with 107 points overall.

Fox is a former Chatham-Kent Cyclones forward.

Kalamazoo has clinched a post season berth, with their opponent still to be decided.
