EMU Eagles fall to the Great Lakes Jr C All-Stars
The Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League showed that they can compete with other top tier league’s as the Great Lakes All-Stars pummled the Eastern Michigan University Eagles 8-3 Thursday night in Essex.
Jake McPhail of the Alvinston Flyers led the charge for the Great Lakes All-Stars scoring 2 goals and adding 2 assists in the game. Other scorers from the Great Lakes team included Tyson Isaac of the Wallaceburg Lakers, Taylor Philips and Thomas Innes of the Blenheim Blades, Jason Teschke of the Mooretown Flags, Spencer Jean from the Belle River Canadiens, and Kingsville Comets forward Shane Romauldi.
Belle River Canadiens goaltender Andrew Thompsen played an excellent game in net stopping 28 of 30 shots he faced.
The win is a testiment to the quality of hockey being played in the Great Lakes Junior C loop as the majority of the Eastern Michigan team is comprised of former Junior A, Junior B, and AAA hockey players from the United States.
Great Lakes Junior C League play is back in full swing this evening and this weekend including several games involving Chatham-Kent teams.
