Shaun Suisham and Steelers headed to AFC Final

Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham and the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 31-24 and advance to the AFC Final. The win puts Suisham only one game away from Super Bowl XLV.

After falling behind 21-7 in the first half, Suisham had a chance to narrow the gap to 21-10, but he missed his 43-yard field goal attempt wide left.

In the fourth quarter however, with the score tied 21-21, Suisham had a do or die situation and he came through under pressure drilling a 35-yard field goal attempt to put the steelers ahead 24-21. Throughout the game, Suisham also made 4 point after attempts, and performed very well on kick offs.

Pittsburgh now faces the winner of today’s New York Jets vs. New England Patriots in the AFC Final for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

I don’t know why its taking so long for any Chatham Papers to cover this. The Hometown boy is going to the SuperBowl!!!!! How many people from Kent County have a SuperBowl Ring? The people in Pittsburgh have really embraced him. They mention him in their fight songs.

Shaun’s professional football career started in Dallas so Super Bowl XLV in Arlington is a homecoming of sorts.

It has been a great season and if local kids get to see a Super Bowl ring at a free “Kick It For Kids” football camp at WDSS or anywhere else for that matter then that is just an additional benefit.

It makes little difference what happens on February 6 – we are proud of our home town hero and if the script makes for legends then so be it.

Fear not die hard Steelers Fan. I watched the game, I wrote a report, and it’s published. Thanks for the YouTube videos. I’ll do my best to get these types of stories out quicker.

If Shaun was from Chatham it would be front page news but since he’s from Wallaceburg it ain’t no big deal. A Canadian born kid in the Super Bowl is rare indeed. And Ian, at least find a pic of him in a Steeler uniform, it ain’t all that hard!

I am from Wallaceburg, I lived one country block from Shaun, rode the bus with him, played junior hockey with him for the Lakers, and went to high school with him. I understand the importance of this.

As for a picture, I apologize folks. If anyone owns the rights to a Shaun Suisham picture in a Steelers jersey I’d be happy to post it. Or better yet, if anyone would like to fund me to go to the Super Bowl, I will more than happily snap a thousand pictures of Suisham.

Hey Leon, next time you’re at a Steelers game, snap a photo of him for me.

Or if you’d like to donate the crazy money to buy one from AP, please let me know.

@William – silly issues like copyright prevent us from just lifting other people’s photos and posting them on a commercial website.

@Ian. Sorry you have such a lousy budget to operate with brother, appreciate your work. Changed the photo so the hounds can rest.
