Dave Torrie, a Blenheim native and former Chatham Jr.B Maroons head coach, president, and general manager, has been terminated from his position as GM with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Torrie has served as the Soo Greyhounds general manager for 8 seasons, taking over the position in 2003. In a press conference in Sault Ste. Marie Sunday, Torrie told friends and media that he wants nothing more than to see the organization succeed.

Team officials stated that Dave was a extremely dedicated employee, and professional general manager; however, it was time for the club to head in a new direction.

In January, Dave Torrie also took over head coaching duties with the Greyhounds after Denny Lambert was relieved of his duties.

While with the Chatham Maroons, Torrie led the team to four league championships and a Sutherland Cup. Although Torrie did not state his future hockey directions, he did allude to the fact that this will not be the end of his hockey career.
