Chatham Outlaws Bantams Lose To Lightning, Preparing for Provincials

Chatham Outlaws Hockey LogoChatham, ON – The Chatham Outlaws Bantam A team will not be going to the League Championship after losing the 3rd and deciding game of their series against the Saugeen-Maitland Lightning at Memorial Arena on Sunday.
 
The Chatham Bantam A Outlaws defeated the Saugeen-Maitland Lightning 3-2 at Howick Arena on Saturday to force a 3rd and deciding game in their 4 point series to decide who will represent the Southwest Division in the LLFHL.  Chatham built a 2 goal lead on goals by Tory Brown and Meredith Goldhawk in the 1st.  Lindsey Boglitch, Riley Vanderydt, Aliyah Whiteye and Rachael Tricker assisted.  The Lightning narrowed the gap after scoring in the 2nd.  The Outlaws scored early in the 3rd (Aliyah Whiteyde assisted by Meredith Goldhawk) to go up 3 -1 and ensure a 3rd and deciding game at home on Sunday.  The Lightning scored late in the 3rd to make it close but the Chatham Outlaws shut the door with the Saugeen goalie pulled for the extra attacker. 
 
On Sunday, the Lightning scored what would be the winning goal early in the 3rd period after Reagan Kaufman of the Lightening stole the puck at the Outlaw blueline and deeked around two defenders to beat the Chatham Outlaw netminder high to the glove side.  The Ligthening would add an empty net goal with 24 secs left in the game.
 
The Bantam A Chatham Outlaws will now prepare for the provincial championship series which they participate in Apr. 8 – 10 in Vaughan.
