Novice Wildcats Enjoy Successful Season, Bow Out at Provincials
The Chatham-Kent Wildcats Novice Girls team had 7 first year players who never played basketball before. Chatham-Kent was the smallest centre who made Division 1. The next smallest centre was Dundas. All other teams were from Hamilton or Toronto. With these things considered, this young basketball team experienced an extremely successful season.
In fact, this young Chatham-Kent Wildcats team was the highest ranked Novice team ever for Chatham-Kent and one of the highest ranked Wildcats teams of all-time.
Friday night at the Ontario Basketball Provincial tournament, the Wildcats played 2nd ranked Blessed Sacrament. The game was close going basket for basket for most of the game. The team followed up this performance with two games Saturday including a win over Newman Youth.
