Chatham MMA Fighter Continues Winning Streak
Tyler Kirk from Chatham’s Redemption MMA and Fitness scored a first round submssion victory this past Friday at Border Wars in Port Huron, Michigan.
Kirk, with only 6 months training under his belt is proving himself and showing his specialty is submissions. Kirk was able to score a nice takedown early in the round, but was nearly caught in a submission himself before powering out and transitioning straight to full mount.
His opponent, Roman Szlek, attempted to bridge and roll to escape but Kirk’s slick transition into a triangle choke caught Szlek off guard forcing him to tapout at 1:53 seconds of the 1st round.
Team Redemption, under the leadership of owner and head coach Chris Kimmerly, remains undefeated in the cage and the stable of fighters continue to grow and improve.
Team Redemption fighters Matt Blondeel, Matt Barnes and Mitch Wilson try their hand at North America’s biggest grappling tournament this weekend at Grappler Quest being held at the UFC Fan Expo in Toronto.
