Wallaceburg Fighter Jesse Gross Eyes MMA Title
Wallaceburg, ON – Jesse “The Ghost” Gross has been looking forward to this moment for a long time. May 6, Gross will step into the ring against Canada’s 5th Ranked Lightweight Fighter, Brad Cardinal, for WRECK MMA’s newly created Lightweight title.
Although mixed martial arts have met some opponents in Ontario, Gross continues to train, and continues to win. Currently ranked just outside Canada’s top 10 lightweight fighter’s, Gross is not oblivious to what a win against Cardinal could do for his career,
“Beating Brad puts me into the Canadian top ten without a doubt. Right now I sit just outside these rankings and winning this fight proves that I belong with these guys. On top of that I would capture the Wreck MMA lightweight title, the only result of that is that I get another top notch opponent to face next. Fighting and beating top competition is the only real way to advance your career and, this fight provides that gateway.”
Gross who trains in London, was a former star for the Wallaceburg District Secondary School football team, and has been studying police foundations at Fanshawe College. Most recently, Gross beat Pablo Santos at WRECK – Proud and Strong with a round 1 TKO on punches that took only 3 minutes 12 seconds. Before this, Gross fought and beat, Rory McDonell in Afghanistan.
With less than two months before his next fight, “The Ghost” has his eyes are set soley on his May 6th title fight, and is busy preparing at his London, Ontario gym,
“Right now the competition in the gym over at Adrenaline MMA is very intense. I’m training with other highly regarded fighters and we all have big fights coming up around the same time as each other. One thing to note is that all of us are going into our up and coming fights as underdogs in our respective matches,” said Gross.
“As a fighter that motivates you that much more. We work hard regardless but, when people see you as the underdog, you have no choice but to find that next level of grit, dig down and make sure that your training is that much harder.”
Although he will be well prepared for his May 6th fight, Gross understands Cardinal will be his toughest opponent to date, a challenge he is more than willing to face head on,
“He has to believe he’s the best fighter I’ve had to face to date. How that will effect his game plan I’m not sure but, I do expect him to fight me tooth and nail till the end.”
