Wallaceburg Fighter Jesse Gross Accepting Nothing But A Win
“After the Hell I’ve been through preparing for this battle, not bringing this title home is completely unacceptable. I won’t have it, a win by way of a violent stoppage is the reasonable outcome I see.”
That was the statement of Wallaceburg MMA fighter Jesse “The Ghost” Gross in reference to his upcoming WRECK MMA title fight in Quebec early next month. Gross who has been training non-stop for the last several months in preparation for this opportunity, says he’s not prepared to let his shot at defeating highly ranked fighter Brad Cardinal in this lightweight bout slip by.
“It’s been 8 hard weeks in the gym, 8 weeks worth of two a days, bleeding, sweeting and fighting through exhaustion,” said Gross, “The intensity level in the gym has been higher than ever before. Physically I’m feeling fantastic. My confidence is rock solid. My focus is completely zeroed in on capturing this victory.”
Gross has been training in London for the May 6th title fight in Gatineau, Quebec. Although the fight is 9 hours from his hometown, Gross still feels the support from his community, and knows local fans will be watching the fight on the internet, and in person,
“I don’t get home to Wallaceburg often enough to see all my friends and family but I feel their support daily,” Gross said about the backing he receives from Wallaceburg, “Just about daily, especially as the fight gets closer I get messages from the boys back home to keep pushing and ensure that I notch another win on the resume. Gatineau is a pretty good drive away but there will be “Ghost” supporters from Wallaceburg that will be making the trip down, others I know will be watching on the live internet pay per view. That surely motivates me to put my best foot forward when so many people rooting me on.”
Many fighters and coaches would be studying their opponent at this point in the game, looking for any small weakness, or advantage they can take into the fight, but Gross is focused on one thing alone, preparing himself to fight his fight, to the best of his ability,
“I’m personally not a big fan of watching and studying opponents fight videos and coming up with game plans. I fully prepare myself to be able to adapt to any situation that I may be faced with in my fights. If I try something and it doesn’t work I’ll move on to something else until I figure out what does. I have an ability to inflict a lot of pain and pressure on my opposition, and because of that, no one has made it to the final bell.”
To Gross, winning is the only acceptable outcome for his upcoming fight, something Jesse Gross says that if Brad Cardinal isn’t aware of already, he will be soon, “If Cardinal doesn’t realize it yet, he will when that cage door closes. He is in danger of getting beat down until a ref comes to his rescue.”
