Brewers Still Unbeaten After Defeating Wyoming

The Maple City Brewers pushed their regular season opening winning streak to 4-0 defeating the Wyoming Seniors 8-3 yesterday on the road. Maple City (Chatham), has played each of their 4 games on the road, before they play their first home game at Fergie Jenkins Field, Sunday May 20 against Windsor.

After a lead off single, Matt Knights put his team up 1-0 in the first inning. After Wyoming tied it up in the third inning, the Brewers exploded for 2 runs in the second, and 5 in the sixth. Greg Sinclair and Dave Seguin scored in the third inning, while Seguin, Joe Wright, Dave Smith, Brock Henderson and Joey Hewak scored in the sixth. Multiple runs in the sixth were scored due to wild pitches by the Wyoming Seniors.

Although Wyoming scored two runs in the 7th, they were unable to complete the comeback allowing Maple City to win their 4th game of the season in as many games.

Joel Smith picked up the win on the mound while Dave Carey grabbed the save. Smith pitched 4 innings allowing 4 hits, throwing 2 strikeouts, and accumulating a 1.75 ERA.
