Chatham Attack U-15 Defeat North London on Own Goal
The U-15 Chatham Attack were playing their 2nd home game of the season against the North London FC winning the game 3-1.
Chatham was looking to continue building on their early momentum from their 1st win; however, North London came out flying and likely controlled the ball for the 1st 15 minutes of the game before Chatham got up to game speed. Chatham held on and did just enough to be awarded a free kick from 25 yards out when Kolby Sarson was hauled down. Christian Bechard took the direct kick and fired home a low hard shot just inside the post for a 1 – 0 lead.
North London continued to control the play in the Chatham end right up to the end of the half , when they capitalized on a corner kick to tie the game at 1 – 1. Chatham was fortunate to get out of the half tied at 1 – 1 , as Chatham goalie Josh Graham likely faced upwards of 15 shots on net.
Chatham looked to regroup at the half and pick up their pace and tempo. They came out with a purpose and began to move the ball around the park and into the North London end. The tables had turned as now Chatham was controlling the play and enjoying some scoring chances. 8 minutes into the 2nd half Chatham was awarded a corner kick, and Drew McFeggan drove the ball into the box, where Nick Ladd deflected the ball with his head, directly off of a North London player an into the net. The own goal gave Chatham a 2 – 1 lead and increased their confidence and momentum.
Only 10 minutes later, Chatham continued to push forward as Zack Horvath feed a pass that split 2 North London defenders and send John Montgomery in on a breakaway. Montgomery made no mistake in sliding a low shot inside the post out of the reach of the FC goalie. Chatham now tightened up their coverage with the 2 goal lead and blanketed the London players not allowing them any further offensive attacks. The 3 – 1 victory leaves Chatham at 2 and 0 and alone in first with their next game in Sarnia against Bluewater on Friday.
