Chatham Attack U-15 Spark Winning Streak With Shutout in Bluewater
The U-15 Chatham Attack played their 1st road game of the season in Sarnia against Bluewater. Chatham was hoping to keep their quick start going and keep their mini win streak of 2 games alive, which they did with a 3-0 win over Sarnia Bluewater.
The Attack came out strong and pressured Bluewater all over the field, and their aggressive plays paid off with a couple of glorious scoring chances, both on breakaways. However the Attack were not able to take advantage of Bluewater’s defensive breakdowns and went to the half tied at 0.
The Attack continued to dominate the play, and eventually began to wear down Bluewater late in the game. Chatham sweeper Christian Bechard was moved up to striker to try and jumpstart Chatham’s goal-less offence and the move paid off as Bechard was tripped in the box and a penalty shot was awarded. Drew McFeggan converted the penalty, his 2nd successful attempt of the season to give Chatham a 1 – 0 lead with only 8 minutes left in the game.
Chatham would not sit on their 1 goal lead, and continued to attack Bluewater, and Andrew Milkovic blazed up the side line , beating his man around the corner and in on goal. Milkovic fed an unselfish, last second pass over to Sanaam Memon , who had an open net to give Chatham a 2 – 0 lead with only minutes left in the game.
Chatham managed to work their way up the pitch again and this time Bechard took a pass from Memon and deked through the Bluewater defence and potted a low shot off the post and it to give Chatham a 3 – 0 victory with no time remaining. The 3 and 0 start is Chatham’s best in years and leaves them alone in 1st place in their division. Chatham keeper Josh Graham earned his 1st shut-out of the season with a few timely saves early in the game.
Chatham is off for a week before resuming play next Friday on the road in Strathroy.
