Chatham Strikers U-12 Girls Down Dorchester To Open Season
The U-12 Chatham Strikers opened their 2011 Season at home on Tuesday night against the Dorchester Dynamite. Chatham was looking to exact revenge against the team that knocked them out of the Challenge cup in penalty shots at the end of last season.
Chatham was out to send a message early and it didn’t take long for them to get their point across. Less than a minute into the game the Strikers stormed down the pitch and Logan Kucera crossed a beautiful ball into the box. Jana Kucera was on the receiving end of the pass and managed to deflect it past the Dorchester goalie and then follow the deflection and ball into the back of the net for a 1 – 0 Chatham lead.
Chatham would enjoy a few good scoring chances in the half as Allyson Huckle rang a 25 yard shot off the crossbar. Chatham looked to build on their 1 – 0 lead in the 2nd half and again enjoyed numerous good scoring chances. Finally at the 65th minute of the game the Wonder twins struck again as Logan Kucera crossed another ball into the crease and Jana Kucera ran onto the feed and buried her 2nd goal of the game.
Chatham’s defence was stellar throughout the game and limited Dorchester to 1 or 2 scoring opportunities and helped Kaylee Boulley earn her 1st shut-out of the season.
Chatham is back in action next Tuesday in London against Southend United .
