Chatham's Redemption MMA Competes at UFC Fan Expo in Toronto
This past weekend members of Redemption Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness competition team competed in the Grappler Quest grappling tournament at the UFC Fan Expo in Toronto.
Grappler Quest is one of the biggest grappling tournaments with high profile fighters such as Diego Sanchez, Takanori Gomi and Jake Shields. Team Redemption fighter Mitch Wilson took home the bronze medal in the 160.0-169.9 division forcing all his opponents to submit by triangle chokes. Wilson, with amateur boxing experience, has only been grappling for a few short months. During his fights, Wilson showed very good technical skills and patience. Team Redemption MMA said they expect to see Wilson fighting in his first MMA bout very soon.
Also from Team Redemption, Matt Blondeel took home the silver in the 190-199 bracket. Blondeel started training under coach Chris Kimmerly only 3 months ago. In that short time he dropped nearly 20lbs and displayed his submission skills at the UFC Fan Expo securing victory with rear-naked chokes and triangles.
