After falling behind 5-1 in the first period, the Wallaceburg Red Devils were unable to erase their deficit against the Welland Warlords Saturday afternoon at home in Wallaceburg. In the end, the Warlords topped the Red Devils 12-6.

Clint Lamarsh continued to be a leader for the Wallaceburg Red Devils scoring 2 goals, while Jordan Durston also scored twice in the game.

Wallaceburg’s struggles continued early in the second period as they fell behind 9-2 before they showed signs of life. An opening second period fight involving Red Devils player Adam Janssens, which sent his opponent to the hospital, failed to spark the team as they continued to fall into a deeper rut.

Late in the second, Wallaceburg showed signs of life with Dillon Lapointe getting the ball rolling, followed by Durston with both of his goals before the period was out. Tyson Isaac also scored for Wallaceburg in the second period.

In the third, Welland again outscored the Red Devils, however it was a much more evenly fought period.

With the loss, the Wallaceburg Red Devils fall to 2-3 on the season. The Red Devils next travel to Sarnia on Wednesday, May 11 to face the Sarnia Pacers at 8:00pm at Clearwater Arena.

A motivational fight? How about premeditated assault. Let’s report what really happened. Adam Janssens’ attack from behind and quick, cheap shot (while his helmet remained on) left “the opponent” visually disabled and unable to defend himself. His lack of ability to play lacrosse with sportsman like conduct cost the Red Devils 15 minutes in penalties, player ejection, and suspension. Why don’t you investigate how many games the suspension is for . In the end what did Wallaceburg gain, it was still a loss for them, both scoreboard and player, this team just couldn’t accept that a loss was inevitable even with their cheap play. And it’s really a shame that a team lacks that much confidence in their skills and needs to rely on violence to spark the players. Doesn’t anyone have an interest in playing larosse anymore?
