The Bantam Chatham-Kent Cougars bounced back quickly from their loss last week to beat the Oakville Titans Sunday on the road 32-12.  The team as a whole played very well, all contributing to the well deserved win.

Offensively, the Chatham-Kent Cougars had 229 total yards rushing on the day, spreading the load out amongst many players.  Ethan Smith lead the charge with his break out game of the season, emassing 138 yards with 2 TDs on 14 carries. Justin Stevens also had a great performance, gaining 56 yards, running over opponents on 11 carries.  Rob Wright had 3 carries for 34 yards and a TD.  Ross Krieger had 3 carries for 45 yards, Matt Authier 2 carries for 25 yards with a reception for a TD as well.  Brady Pataki and Jake Anderson also ran once each for 35 yards.  Nolan Ball was 3 for 5 in passing with 2 of the 3 completions being for TDs to  Matt Authier and Mo Ibari.  Owen Dorssers converted  2 of 4 PATs with 1 failed 2 point conversion.

Defensively, the Cougars were able to rotate  all players into the game while keeping the Titans running game to a minimum by great play in the middle by Quentin Forgie, Austin Miller and Zack Kaniecki.  The Titans passing attack was stifled, with Jeremy Wannes intercepting 2 passes by the Titans QB.  Nate Champagne and Dalton Brooker also did a great job containing the Titans offense from getting outside and gaining the edge.

Mention must be made of Daniel Vaughan’s unselfish demeanor, choosing to switch to offensive line from LB to give the team a much needed boast in both play and toughness.

The Peewee Chatham-Kent Cougars dominated Oakville with a 46-6 victory. The Cougars gained close to 200 yds on offence in Oakville on Sunday lead by Dillon Beaumont with 7 runs for 106 yards and 3 TDs. Brad Wild laid it down on the field with 5 carries for 65 yards and 3 TDs along with Daylen Mailloux’s 2 carries for 61 yards and 1 TD. Colin Hoorelbeck’s 3 carries for 35 yards and Chase Waddick’s strong performance at QB rounded out the offence.

A strong defence stuffed the Oakville Titans with 6 Sacks and 4 interceptions. Connor Wright had 8 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception. Brandon Tatsu had 7 tackles and 1 sack. Zack Lindley along with David Nethersole each had 6 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception. Dillon Beaumont also made 5 tackles. Strong secondary play by Evan Torres and Tanner Hoorelbeck aided the defence. The Peewee Chatham-Kent Cougars are now 2-1 and host the undefeated Sarnia Sturgeons next Sunday.
