Blenheim "Blasts" Out of Guelph With 29 Swimming Medals

Seven members of the Blenheim Blast Swim Team travelled to Guelph last weekend to participate in the Guelph Marlins Long Couse Invitational, and the team swam away with a total of 29 medals.

Brendan Van Herk led the charge with 9 Gold medals in the 11 and under boys 50m and 100 Freestyle, Backstroke, Breastroke,and Butterfly events and also in the 200 m Individual Medley. Shania Van Herk received Gold in 14 year old Girls 200m Feestyle , and swam away with four Silver medals ( 100 Free, 100 Back,200 Back, 100Fly) and three Bronze medals (50 m Free,Back and Breast).  Riley Johnson received 2 Gold Medals in the Girls 14 year old events ( 50 m Back, and 100m Butterfly ) , four Silver medals ( 50 Breast and Fly, 200 m Butterfly and 400m IM) , and one Bronze in her 100 m Back.  

Rain Pfaff received Gold in the Girls 12 year old 100m Backstroke, Silver in the 200 m Back and Bronze in the 200m IM.  Justine Van Herk received Brionze in the women’s 15 and above Freestyle. Justine also had five other top ten finishes placing fourth in both the 50m and 100m Backstroke , sixth in the 50m Breast and eigth in the 100m Free.  Grace Hansen , 10 competed in the Girls 11 and under category and swam away with four top ten performances, pacling seventh in her 50m Breast and 100 Butterfly, eight in her 50m Butterfly and ninth in the 50m Freesyle.

The team will travel to Brock University June 9-11 to compete in the W.O.S.A. Long Course Championships.
