Chatham Diamonds Minor Baseball

Several Chatham Minor Baseball teams were in action this week. Below you’ll find a summary of the baseball action from across Chatham-Kent:

June 5th: Chatham Minor Bantams vs Amherstburg

The Chatham Minor Bantam Diamonds defeated Amherstburg 9-4 using a balanced attack at the plate. Chatham stormed out of the gates scoring 7 runs in the first two innings of the game. Hits in the game went to Austin Oulds, Luke Van Rychegham, Matthew Balkwill, Matthew McMahon, Lee Kucera, Logan Burma, and Jalen Butcher.

June 5th: Chatham Diamonds Major PeeWees vs Amherstburg

Chatham played a double header at home against Amherstburg on Sunday, winning the opener 9-4. Josh Hachey had a strong outing and Brennon Smith closed it out for Chatham scattering 4 hits in the win.  Steven Nydam and Riley Vandenborn led the way with 2 hits each.  Dakota Butt had a double and Zack Kelly, Nick Van Der Paelt, and Brennon Smith all had singles.

In the second game, Chatham took control winning 6-1.  Dakota Butt and Brendan Richarson teamed up to scatter 3 hits for the win.  Kelton Evans had a single and a double, Michael Lindsay and Dakota Butt each doubled and Zack Kelly, Nick Van Der Paelt and Josh Hachey chipped in with singles.

June 7th: Chatham Midget Diamonds vs Wallaceburg Warriors

Brooks Shepley led the way for Chatham with 5 RBIs on a triple, double, and single as Chatham pounded Wallaceburg 18-3. Zack Vanderpaelt had 3 singles and 3 RBIs for Chatham, and Max Biskey had a single and 2 RBIs, while Jacob Dozois went the distance on the mound.

June 7th: Chatham Minor Mosquito vs Harrow

The young Chatham Mosquito’s took on Harrow on the road bringing home a 13-5 win. Nolan Lucier lit up the diamond when he hit a grand slam in the 6th inning for Chatham. Craig Spence had 2 singles and a double for Chatham, while Eric Pettipiece had two singles. Grayson Ladd, Garret King, and Matthew Kling kept Harrow’s attack at bay pitching a strong game, combining for 8 stike outs.

June 8th: Chatham Midget Diamonds vs Oakridge

Chatham won their second game in as many nights defeating Oakridge 12-2. Blayne Oliver had 2 singles and 2 RBIs, Jacob Dozois had 3 singles and 2 RBIs, Tyler Cogghe had 2 doubles and a single, while Alex Gardiner had 2 singles. Kyle Negre pitched seven innings in the game allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
