Chatham Minor Baseball

Several Chatham Minor Baseball teams were in action this past week. Below are a few highlights from the results.

June 11-12 – Minor Bantam Diamonds Tournament Results

In their opening game Chatham defeated Mississauga 6-1. Logan Buruma had a single and a double in the game. Chatham continued winning in game two beating Oakridge 7-2, with Austin Oulds sending out two singles, while Lee Lucera had a single and a double. The following day, Chatham thumped Amherstburg 14-1 led by a trio of players with two singles each including Tanner Goldsmith, Kucera, and Matt McMahon. In their final round robin game, Chatham downed EBBA 7-4 with Oulds and McMahon again chipping in with multi-hit games.
  
Heading into the tournament final undefeated against Oakville, Chatham narrowly fell to a very strong Oakville club 5-3. Goldsmith and Nolan Holmes had two singles each in the game.

June 18Chatham Diamonds Senior Rookies

The Diamonds Senior Rookies squad defeated Tecumseh in a high scoring 19-15 game at Jaycee Park. Quinn Shoemaker and Deni Goure each had three singles, while Brendan Mairs also had three singles and a triple, Ross Henderson had a double and two singles, while Quinn Erickson was a home run short of the cycle.

In game two of their double header, Chatham again beat Tecumseh, this time 10-8. Deni Goure and Brendan Mairs had four hit afternoons while Jackson Moon, Dakota VanGoethem, and Ross Henderson each picked up three hits in the win.

June 21 – Minor Peewee Chatham Diamonds vs Forest

The Minor Peewee Diamonds relied on strong batting and a balanced defensive game in their 7-3 win over Forest Tuesday at Kinsmen Park. Dylan Haddock led the charge at the plate collecting 3 singles for 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Justin Doran started the game with a triple, followed by stealing home. Jordan DeHaw pitched the first three innings striking out 2, while Mitchell DeJong finished with game with 7 strike outs.
