Herreweyers Earns Full Field Lacrosse Scholarship to Loyola University
Former Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse star Zach Herreweyers has accepted a full ride scholarship to Loyola University in Maryland to play for their field lacrosse program.
As a member of the first place Clarington Green Gaels Junior B lacrosse team this season Herrewayers scored 29 points in only 9 games.
The Loyola University Greyhounds are a Division I NCAA school, who play in the ECAC Lacrosse League. Although Herreweyers success with the Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse organization, including winning multiple provincial championships, came in a box lacrosse setting, Herreweyers has also found national success on the field.
Last summer, Herreweyers won a U16 national field lacrosse championship as a member of Team Ontario. Herreweyers will join a strong Loyola team which has made National Championship tournament appearances in 2010, 2008, and 2007. Loyola also has ten current alumni in the National Lacrosse League.
Earlier this year, Herreweyer was selected 5th overall by Peterborough in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior A draft.
