Hewak Puts Up 5 RBI's in Brewers' Win

As he has much of the season, Maple City Brewers third baseman Joey Hewak had a stellar game Thursday in Amherstburg as Chatham defeated the Amherstburg Cardinals 11-5. Hewak had 5 RBI’s including 2 home runs.

In the second inning, Ryan Cattrysse, who also had a stellar evening for the Brewers going 4-4 at the plate, started things off for Maple City with a solo home run. Later in the inning, Denny Toth put the Brewers ahead 2-1, scoring off a Joe Wright single.

Hewak swatted in a homer in the third inning also bringing in Dave Carey. Cattrysse also scored a run after stealing a base and coming home on a Denny Toth sacrifice fly.

Smacking his second home run of the game out of the park in the 4th inning, Hewak brought in two more runners.

After building a lead, Joel Smith took over on the pitchers mound for Chatham throwing a complete game, 6 hit effort, with 7 strike outs and an ERA of 1.00.

Maple City has three home games this weekend, hosting the Dresden Juniors Friday night at 7pm at Fergie Jenkins Field, followed by a double header Sunday.
