Hooker Pulls Close in Late Models Standings After Feature Win
Chatham’s Kirk Hooker, who drives car #38, pulled within 3 points of leader Dale Glassford in the Windride Transportation Services UMP Late Models standings after winning the Late Models feature Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway.
Glassford, a Ridgetown resident finished 5th in the feature race. Behind Hooker were Gerry and Gregg Haskell of Chatham, and Jim Jones, also of Chatham.
Clayton Smith of Taylor, Michigan won in his first appearance at South Buxton of the season, in the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds. Shrewsbury’s Jim Dale Jr who now sits in second in the Modifieds standings finished a close second behind Smith, followed by Chatham’s Eric Vanderiviere in third.
Blenheim’s Shawn Jones took top prize in the Tirecraft Comp 4s. The 18-year-old Jones managed to hold off Chatham’s Jody Mason who finished second. In the other feature race of the evening, Essex’ Gerald Martin took the checkered flag, while Merlin’s Eren Vanderiviere was the lone Chatham-Kent finisher in the top 5 coming in 4th.
